Slap Alert

Cha-ching! Free cash register sounds, and one for every sale

Here are the two cash-register sounds I put in Slap Alert 1.6.4. Press play. Wow, that bell! They're real recordings, not synth beeps, and they're CC0, so download them and use them in your video, game or slideshow. No sign-up, no strings.

If you sell online, there's a second option: hear one every time you make a sale. Slap Alert is my little Mac app. A pixel monkey swings down and slaps a sticky note on your screen with who paid and how much, plus the sound you pick. These two recordings are in the slapalert.com download.

Slap: the sound my monkey makes

Slap is the default. It's a sharp crack and a low thump, and the app picks from four slightly different takes. You hear it when the monkey slaps the note. This button plays one of them. Slap is made by the app itself, so it's here to hear, not to download.

Pop and Off: the quiet options

Pop is the macOS system Pop sound. You already have it. On a Mac, open System Settings → Sound and pick Pop under Alert sound to hear it. I don't host that file.

Off is no sound at all. The note still slaps.

Can I download these sounds for free?

Yes. Cha-ching and Register are CC0 1.0, so download the MP3 or the WAV above and use them. No sign-up. The originals are on Freesound: Cash Register Fake.wav by CapsLok and Vintage cash register by Tompalompa. Slap is generated in my app, so it's here to hear, not to download. Pop is a macOS system sound, so that one is a description only.

Can I use them in a video, game or app?

Yes. CC0 means no permission and no credit are required. A credit to the original recordists is a nice touch. The licence text is the CC0 deed.

How do I hear a cha-ching every time I make a sale?

Setup takes about two minutes. Connect Stripe, Paddle, Polar, Dodo Payments, RevenueCat or Shopify, or the App Store as one note each morning. Then choose Sound → Cha-ching. Only sales made after you connect get a slap. More on the Stripe sound is in Stripe payment notification sound on your Mac.

Can I get a cha-ching for Etsy or eBay sales?

No. Slap Alert doesn't connect to Etsy or eBay, and it doesn't connect to Gumroad or PayPal. Shopify does. The free JSON Inbox can take a sale from your own script, but I don't have an Etsy or eBay recipe.

Questions
