Terms of use
Last updated October 16, 2026
Slap Alert is made by Nikolas McEwen (Apex North). These terms cover the Slap Alert app for Mac and this website. By downloading, buying or using Slap Alert you agree to them. They're written to be read, so if anything is unclear, email hello@slapalert.com.
Your license
Buying Slap Alert gets you a license key for you to use Slap Alert on all of your own Macs. It's a one-time purchase with no subscription. Please don't share, sell or publish your key. Slap Alert stays ours; the license lets you use it, and doesn't let you copy, resell or redistribute the app.
The free trial
Slap Alert works fully for 7 days without a license. After that, Stripe, RevenueCat and Shopify notes pause until you add a license. Notes from your own scripts (through the Slap Alert Inbox folder) keep working for free.
Buying
Checkout on this website is run by Stripe, and your purchase is sold through Link, Stripe's checkout service. Link charges you, adds any sales tax that applies where you are, and sends your receipt. The terms shown at checkout cover the payment itself. Your license key appears on the page right after checkout and is emailed to you.
If you got Slap Alert from the Mac App Store, Apple sold it to you and Apple's terms cover that purchase, including refunds.
Refunds
If you bought Slap Alert on this website, email hello@slapalert.com within 14 days of buying and you get a full refund, no questions asked. You can also ask Link's support. After a refund, please stop using the license key.
Your sales accounts
Slap Alert reads your sales from Stripe, RevenueCat or Shopify using keys or webhooks you set up in your own accounts. Those services aren't ours, and their own terms apply to your accounts with them. If one of them changes or stops its service, a part of Slap Alert may stop working until we update it. What Slap Alert and this website keep is in the privacy policy.
What Slap Alert is (and isn't)
Slap Alert is a fun way to see sales as they happen. It isn't an accounting or reporting tool. A note can be late or missing, for example while your Mac is asleep or offline, or while one of those services is slow or down, so please don't rely on it for bookkeeping, taxes or anything important.
No warranty, and limits
Slap Alert is provided as it is, without any promise that it will be free of bugs or always available. As far as the law allows, we aren't responsible for indirect or lost-profit losses from using it, and our total responsibility for anything to do with Slap Alert is limited to what you paid for it. Nothing here takes away rights you have under the consumer protection laws where you live.
Changes
If these terms change we'll update this page and its date. A change never takes away a license you've already bought.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
