CashNotify is a menu-bar app for Mac and Windows that watches your Stripe and PayPal accounts. This page compares apps that do a similar job by price, providers and how the alert looks.
We make Slap Alert, one of the apps below, so we'll also say where CashNotify is the better buy. Prices were checked on October 26, 2026. They change, so follow the links before you buy.
The short answer: if you sell on more than Stripe and want a sale alert you can't miss on your Mac, Slap Alert is a close CashNotify alternative: a sticky note and sound for each sale across Stripe, Paddle, RevenueCat, Shopify, Polar and Dodo, for US$19 once. If you need PayPal, Windows or a revenue graph, CashNotify is the better fit.
What CashNotify does well
CashNotify does the basics well. From its pricing page, checked October 26, 2026:
- It runs on Mac (macOS 10.10 Yosemite or newer) and on Windows 7 or newer.
- It watches Stripe and PayPal and checks every minute. The menu-bar icon changes colour when something happens, with optional notifications.
- Free: €0 for one Stripe or PayPal account, captured payments only.
- Essential, US$19: a perpetual licence with 12 months of updates and support. It adds failed payments, refunds, payouts, subscription changes, customer details and fees, a net revenue graph and dark mode.
- Pro, US$44: multiple Stripe and PayPal accounts, plus a 1-on-1 setup.
- A 14-day trial with no card and no account, and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Its prices are in EUR unless stated, and VAT may apply. Its latest release is dated August 27, 2026. If you need PayPal, Windows or an older Mac, you can stop here: CashNotify is the safer pick.
Why people look for an alternative
A few reasons to look elsewhere:
- You sell somewhere other than Stripe. Paddle, Polar, Dodo, RevenueCat, Shopify or the App Store, as well as or instead of Stripe. CashNotify connects to Stripe and PayPal accounts.
- You want an alert you can't miss. An icon colour change is quiet by design. If you work full-screen, you may want something on top of your work, with a sound.
- You want MRR, ARR or something to share, like an image of a milestone.
None of these are CashNotify flaws. They're different needs.

The alternatives, one by one
Slap Alert
Slap Alert is ours, so weigh this section accordingly. It's a Mac menu-bar app. When a sale comes in, a pixel-art monkey swings down from the top-right corner of your screen and slaps a sticky note with who paid and how much. The note stays until you click it. It also shows MRR and ARR, and makes cards you can share. US$19 once, on macOS 14 or later. The full comparison with CashNotify is below.
Best for: sellers on several platforms who want a sale they can't miss.

A frame from a real screen recording of the app's built-in test note. This is test data, not a real sale. Watch the 6-second demo with sound.
Cha-Ching
Cha-Ching is a Mac App Store app. Today's total sits in the menu bar, and each payment gets a notification and a line in a feed. It connects to Stripe, PayPal, Shopify and RevenueCat. It's free to set up, and going live needs Pro at $4.99 a month. It needs macOS 15 Sequoia or later. Our Cha-Ching comparison goes into more detail.
Best for: sellers who need PayPal and are on macOS 15 or later.
NotchBuddy
NotchBuddy puts sales in your MacBook's notch, or in a small pill on Macs without one. A new sale drops in with the amount and a cha-ching, and a little pet jumps. Hovering shows today's takings and MRR. It connects to Stripe, RevenueCat, Polar, Paddle, Dodo, App Store Connect and a few others, and sales are one of many tools in the app. $10 once for one Mac, with a 14-day refund, on macOS 14 or later.
Best for: a notch-style alert at a low one-time price.
BetterNotif
BetterNotif sends native macOS notifications for Stripe events: successful and failed payments, refunds and disputes. Its site also lists a menu-bar dashboard with MRR, and Polar as a second provider. It's $9.99 as a one-time purchase and needs macOS 12 or later.
Best for: Stripe sellers who want standard macOS notifications.
Revenue Notify
Revenue Notify is the closest to CashNotify in style. It runs on Mac and Windows, and its icon colour shows when something new happens, with a notification sound. It watches multiple Stripe and Polar accounts. It's $29 once for one device, $39 for two, or $129 for a five-seat team licence, each with a year of updates. There's a 14-day trial.
Best for: people who need Windows too, or a team licence.
ChaChing Alerts
ChaChing Alerts is a different product from Cha-Ching. There's nothing to install. You point a Stripe webhook at its service, with no API key, and keep its page open in a browser tab. Each payment plays a sound you pick, at a volume you set. It handles up to 10 Stripe accounts and can alert Slack and Discord. It's US$4.49 a month after a free trial with no card. It only plays while the tab is open.
Best for: people who don't want to install anything and keep a browser tab open.
Stripe's own phone app
The Stripe Dashboard app for iPhone and Android is free. It can push notifications for new payments, new customers, disputed payments, deposited transfers and a daily summary. It only shows live-mode data, and your phone has to be within reach.
Best for: a free baseline, if your phone is always nearby.
Slap Alert vs CashNotify, side by side
| Slap Alert | CashNotify | |
|---|---|---|
| Alert | Sticky note + sound | Icon colour + optional notifications |
| Providers | Stripe, Paddle Billing, RevenueCat, Shopify, Polar, Dodo, App Store daily | Stripe, PayPal |
| Checks | Stripe every 30 s | Every minute |
| Revenue view | Today/Week/All Time + MRR/ARR, numbers | Net revenue graph (Essential) |
| Bad-news events | Refunds, failed payments | Refunds, failed payments, payouts, subscription changes (Essential) |
| Price | US$19 once | Free / US$19 / US$44 |
| Trial / refund | 7-day trial, 14-day refund | 14-day trial, 30-day refund |
| OS | macOS 14+ | macOS 10.10+, Windows 7+ |
Both have a US$19 one-time licence, so price won't decide it. Behind the Slap Alert column:
The note. It floats over your windows and full-screen apps on every Space, never takes focus, and stays until you click it. The sound is Slap (the default), Pop (macOS's built-in sound) or Off, with no separate volume control. A Stripe subscription's first payment reads "New subscriber!", and a renewal reads "Renewal!".
Providers. Stripe (several accounts), Paddle Billing, Polar and Dodo are checked every 30 seconds, and RevenueCat every 60. Shopify orders and named RevenueCat purchases arrive by webhook through the slapalert.com download. The App Store gets one note each morning for yesterday. Only payments made after you connect get a slap.
Keys and licence. Stripe needs a restricted key, and full sk_ secret keys are refused. Keys stay in your Mac's login keychain. One licence covers all your own Macs, checked offline, with no account. The Stripe setup guide has the steps.

A real screenshot of the Connect your sales window with the app's built-in test note on top. Test data, not a real sale.
Revenue and cards. Press ⌘R for Today, This Week and All Time, plus current MRR and ARR, as numbers rather than charts. Milestones like your first sale or the $1,000 club get a win card, and real sale notes have a Share button. Amounts are hidden until you turn them on, and customer names never appear.

The Revenue window with MRR selected. Slap Alert is a one-time purchase, so its own MRR is zero. This shows the feature, not our revenue.

Refunds and failures. You get a quiet grey-blue note for refunds and failed payments on Stripe, Paddle (past-due only), the App Store, Polar and Dodo. There are no cancellation or churn alerts, and no payout alerts. If you need those, CashNotify Essential has them.
